With the BENU 37 Butterfly the Moritz Grossmann watch manufacture has captured a small piece of sheer happiness on its tenth anniversary. A swarm of colourful butterflies flutter across the dial of the watch, playfully reminding us of the preciousness of every moment.
This special one-off piece of the BENU line has been created in collaboration with artist Harriet Oberlaender. Born in Zwickau, she has lived and worked on the Cote d’Azur for more than 20 years and has inspired an international audience with numerous exhibitions in France and Germany. Her expressive, energetic works are characterised by the sense of freedom and the search for true happiness. Harriet Oberlaender’s visual language leads straight to the heart. The butterfly — one of the key designs of her works — is a symbol of the human soul that wants to unfold and fly. The design of the BENU 37 Butterfly was particularly close to the artist’s heart: she wants every glance at the watch not only to reveal the time, but also to remind people of the happiness of a fleeting moment.
The white dial made from grand feu enamel is the perfect ‘canvas’ for the colourful butterfly motif, which is applied by hand with a delicate stroke. The Grossmann hands, handmade from steel and tempered brown over flame, form an exciting contrast to the playful motif with their straight lines. The luxurious frame is a 750/000 rosé gold case with a slimline 37 mm diameter. The sapphire crystal glass on the back of the watch reveals the mechanically sophisticated inner workings and features the artist’s signature.
With this Harriet Oberlaender artist watch, the independent Glashütte manufactory once again demonstrates its mastery of craftsmanship and beautifully unique aesthetics. Within just ten years, the company has revived the legacy of the great watch pioneer Moritz Grossmann and brought traditional craftsmanship of the highest standard into the modern era. This has resulted in ‘Schönstes deutsches Handwerk’ meaning ‘the most beautiful German craftsmanship’. From the case to the hands, complete works of art are created in the Grossmann manufacture revealing more than just the exact time.
The special model BENU 37 Butterfly is offered with the calibre 102.1 as a single edition 1 of 1.
